The history of Leeds Festival Chorus

This group of pages shows something of the history of the Leeds Festival Chorus, from the first festival in 1858 through the long period when the Chorus was an ad-hoc group formed for each triennial festival to the permanent body of today.

Most of the material on these pages first appeared in the form of a booklet, Celebration 2008, written at the time of the 150th anniversary of Leeds Town Hall (and hence Leeds Festival Chorus) by Richard Wilcocks, a bass in the Chorus.

We welcome any additional material - programmes, photographs, reminiscences, etc. - that would flesh out the story further.  Please contact if you think you can help.
