Patrons & friends

It has been my great privilege to work with the Leeds Festival Chorus, one of the country’s oldest amateur choral groups, since 1976. I am proud of our enviably high standard of skill and interpretation, as evidenced over the past decade by our acclaimed recordings and broadcasts for the BBC and Classic FM, as well as by our performances in concert halls regionally and nationally.

Our award winning and innovative programming of music from the Renaissance to the present day is at the heart of our work. It is our key to attracting renowned international artists to work with us and enables us to maintain a loyal and supportive audience. Please help to support and maintain one of Britain’s finest choruses.

Conductor and Artistic Adviser

To mount the kind of concerts that the Leeds Festival Chorus does several times a year is extremely expensive.  Though the members of the chorus themselves do not get paid (and indeed the vast majority pay an annual subscription), the professional musicians that are neccessary for a great perfomance do require payment.  Then there is the hire of the music, the hire of the halls, the publicity, the production and printing of the programmes…

All these add to the costs.  Even if we were to sell every seat at a concert we put on, we are still likely to make a loss.  Hence we need to raise considerable sums elsewhere to allow us to perform at all.

To this end we have:

all of whom provide essential financial support.

Please do what you can to help us by participating in one of these; details may be found on the appropriate page.

Today’s our 5th Twitter anniversary and we’ve just clocked up 500 followers! Highlights of this time included tours of Poland and China, and performing Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis. Next month we’re off to Leeds to sing Britten’s War Requiem with @LFChorus, & @BBCPhilharmonic!
