Sing with us

Do you enjoy singing? Then come and join in a rehearsal!

These are on Wednesday evenings, from 7.15 to 9.30pm at St Chad’s Church, Otley Road, Far Headingley, Leeds, LS16 5JT, with our Conductor and Artistic Adviser, Simon Wright.

We welcome membership applications without regard to ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability and economic circumstances. Your ability to sing with us is what matters. There is an initial audition on joining and the whole Chorus re-auditions every 3 years. For enquiries about membership, email our Choir Co-ordinator Fiona Kirkby on or telephone 0113 275 5129.

All people under the age of 26 at the start of our singing year are exempt from paying the annual subscription and there is a concessionary subscription rate for older students. Members finding particular difficulty with subscriptions or other charges can have a confidential discussion with our Treasurer.

Free Membership under 26

If you will be aged under 26 on 1 September and pass our audition, then you can join Leeds Festival Chorus for free for that year. If you are over 26 but are still a student, then you can benefit from our concessionary subscription.

Leeds Youth Choir

Develop your confidence in singing, enjoy learning new songs in many different styles including Jazz, Classical, Pop, Folk and World Music and perform in concerts.

No audition is required, but an ability to read music is useful. If you are a singer of high school age, you’re welcome to come along and try the group out. We sing at a number of concerts in Leeds and further afield throughout the year, and often compete at regional festivals.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays during term time, 6.45-8.15pm at Yorkshire College of Music and Drama, St. Mark’s House, 1 St. Mark’s Avenue, LS2 9BN

Contact us on 0113 378 2850 / for more information or to join.

What our members say

My first concert, 12 years ago, was Mozart Requiem in York Minster. I thought, it doesn't get any better than this'. But it has! Tony
What a wonderful privilege for an ordinary mortal to be involved in music making at this level. Carol
I often feel a real sense of collectiveness, especially in performance but also in rehearsals. A shared achievement. Alice

Unforgettable weekend, performing Britten’s War Requiem - set to Wilfred Owen WW1 poetry - in Leeds Town Hall with ⁦@CityGlasgowChor⁩, ⁦@LFChorus,⁩ @BBCPhilharmonic⁩. Thinking about my grandfather who was shot and later gassed in the final year of WW1 (photo 1918)

Had a great evening @LeedsTownHall listening to #Britten War Requiem. Fab choirs from Leeds and Glasgow, + the choir in the next room!, and @BBCPhilharmonic

Great night performing with ⁦@CityGlasgowChor⁩ ⁦@LFChorus⁩ ⁦@cantabilechoir⁩ ⁦@BBCPhilharmonic⁩ ⁦@LeedsTownHall⁩

@R_becca_Taylor @LFChorus @CityGlasgowChor @LeedsTownHall @BBCPhilharmonic @JoshuaEllicott @BenjaminAppl It was beautiful, breath-taking & bombastic! Wilfred Owen’s poetry was thread through & the chorus voices from ‘behind’ made it seem like it came from heaven! The, at times, ‘angry’ violins & percussions felt like a’ battle’. I could ‘hear’ guns. A feast for eyes & ears! Bravo!!!

Great singing from @LFChorus @CityGlasgowChor in Britten’s War Requiem @LeedsTownHall - set to be an amazing concert this evening with @BBCPhilharmonic @JoshuaEllicott @BenjaminAppl #evelinadobračeva
