What we've been up to and what's next.
We’ve had a busy few months and we’ve got lots to look forward to coming up!
Voice workshops
Our Accompanist and Assistant to the Artistic Advisor, Rebecca Taylor, has been running group voice workshops for members. As we begin to perform again following the lockdowns, these have been valuable in learning about vocal fatigue and techniques for monitoring, pacing and recovery.
Crowning Glory concert
We performed a concert of royal celebration music in St Edmund’s Roundhay on the 5th of March. Beth Moxon was our wonderful mezzo soprano soloist.
Prayer for Ukraine
We learnt the song Prayer for Ukraine - you can listen and watch here. We also collected donations for an appeal run by the Leeds Ukrainian Community Centre.
Visit from Leeds Youth and Schools Choir
Leeds Youth and Schools Choir joined us for a rehearsal working on the beautiful Fauré Requiem. It was a pleasure to have them with us and we look forward to working with them in the future. If your child is interested in joining the Choir please find details here.
Wedding Singing
A group of chorus members sang at the Scarborough wedding of our Accompanist and Assistant to the Artistic Director, Rebecca Taylor. We sang Bach’s Lobet den Herrn and Parry’s I was Glad.
Choir and Organ
The Chorus was featured in the April issue of Choir and Organ. We were described as 'The Yorkshire choir with a spirit of adventure'!
Pietà and Fauré in Winchester
This week we are travelling to Winchester to perform with the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Youth Chorus, and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Pietà is a wonderful new composition by Richard Blackman, first performed in 2020.
Summer concerts
We are performing The Music Makers in York with the York Guildhall Orchestra on the 14th of May 2022, and Belshazzar’s Feast in Sheffield with the Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus and The Hallé on the 11th of June 2022.
Planning our Spain trip
Planning is in the works for a Chorus trip to Spain next year. We love to travel as a Chorus so it will be great to get the opportunity to do this again.
